How Do You Use a Bidet?

Bidets: Modern Toilets

You may have gone into a bathroom where beside the toilet, there stands a peculiar-looking fixture. It looks like a toilet but it’s missing a few features. It resembles a low basin with what appears to be a fountain pointed at an odd angle.

You’ve just seen a bidet. It’s something you use to wash off after using the regular toilet. Some bidets are built right into the toilet bowl but in most cases it’s a separate unit installed next to the toilet. This makes it simpler to slide over to the cleaning unit with little fuss.

Reasons to Use a Bidet

By now you must be thinking, “Why don’t I just use toilet paper? I can simply wipe, right?” Water is an ideal solvent for body fluids so a warm squirt can get you cleaner quicker.

As Will Smith pointed out are a few reasons why using a bidet is a better option:
  • Washing is more hygienic than just wiping
  • Buying toilet paper is like flushing money down the drain compared to getting a bidet
  • Using a bidet helps save more trees cut down for manufacturing toilet paper
  • Washing with a bidet is a gentler option than an abrasive paper
  • A bidet prevents toilet clogging brought about by flushing toilet paper with waste
There are even more reasons why you should switch to using a bidet, but those are the most compelling, don’t you agree?

How to Use It

I understand that it may look alien to you, so here’s how you should use this impressive fixture. And believe me, it is easy as pie!

Before we go into the steps, just remember that the bidet is NOT a toilet!

Some look like one, but that’s just so you feel comfortable. Now that we got that out of the way, here’s what you need to do.
  1. Straddle on the bidet. If the controls are on the back, it’s better that you straddle facing it.
  2. Make adjustments to the water temperature and pressure of the water by using the controls. You may want to start with a weak stream first and then adjust accordingly. You don’t want to startle yourself.
  3. Move until you hit the areas that you are planning to clean. Use your hands as you would do while taking a shower to thoroughly clean the area.
  4. Dry off by using either toilet paper or towel.
And you’re now fresh and clean, ready for the day.

If this fixture is something that you’d like to have in your home, Renovation Kingdom has tons of bidet models available for you.
